Just got back from watching Scream 4, like all the Scream movies if you don't take it too seriously, it isn't too bad.

From start to finish, it seems apparent that the director and writer are obviously in this just to poke fun of the state of horror films now and to milk even more money from gullible movie goers ( I still feel like my $7 was well spent for a Monday Night though)

Alot of what they say makes sense, American horror movies these days are reboot after reboot or remakes of foreign films that turn out to be too sad to even bother with. Gone are the days of respectable slasher flicks or truly scary movies.

I will say though, which Scream 4 tries to outsmart the formula, it definitely fell into some of its own loopholes. *Spoilers*

One of the horror nerds was DEFINITELY the killer and I didn't doubt this for one second even after seeing one of them killed and one of the 'masterminds' was DEFINITELY going to get killed in the end. Also, I am not really that surprised that Neve Campbell made it out alive in the end. BINGO

If i was out to really scrutinize the film, I would have probably have guessed the real killer too. The delivery and motives are a bit lost amongst the sea of quips about social media and online fame; but I get it; with the state of youth now, it may not even be as far fetched as many serious critics think.

Suspense is also largely absent in this movie and the middle does crawl abit. But for me redeems itself eventually.

Scream 4 is a fluff movie and a campy one at that and with that in mind, it does a pretty amazing job. If you are looking for a horror film that takes itself seriously, pop in a DVD of a film made sometime before the year 2000, look to foreign films; whatever it is, look elsewhere. If fun is what you are after, Scream 4 isn't so bad at all, I enjoyed it.
