| Bern's 22nd birthday celebration
Friday, December 16, 2011 @ 2:21 AM PERMALINK
Berns is the youngest of our group. While 2 of us are already turning 23, she has just turned 22! D:
We were going to have dinner at Hard Rock but as it turned out, it was closed for a private function. (Just our luck) Poor Abby and Berns got stuck in traffic and had a hard time finding parking and we had to wait awhile to get a table so it was a pretty rough start.
When we finally did get seated, we were starving and gobbled up all the food (so no pictures, sorry)
The ribs were really good and value for money ($17.80) for two slabs of ribs and wedges. We had mushroom caps as well but those were kind of pathetic. It was $7.80 for 5 tiny caps. Either way, the food at NYDC is still pretty good and the service staff very polite (although they have a weird policy where only senior staff can take orders which makes things kind of slow)
After NYDC, we stood outside Wheelock for abit while deciding to do Secret Santa this year. We attempted to draw the lots while standing in the middle of town and making up rules.
We finally decided that:
1. (Obviously) We couldnt draw ourselves
2. Couples couldn't draw each other's names
Gladys brought out her semi-pro and kept asking us if we wanted to take pictures. We kept declining and she eventually decided that this was the best look for her : Tourist.

Failed attempts at getting proper names for our secret santa gifts

Bong the bird is not amused.

We finally found decided to stop being annoying in the middle of Orchard Road and got seats at Pacific Plaza's Starbucks and tried to sort out the details. (We are a very persistant bunch of people) We tried over and over again before we finally got all the names in order.
The key to presents!

Once that was settled, Abby and Berns amused themselves with Abby's new favourite Iphone app, Doddle Sketch.
Busy at work..

This is the final product of what she was up to:

Chuckles also had a birthday party for her. It was supposed to be a suprise, but well, we (more specifically Gladys) spoilt it.
I was on deco duty because Abby's flight to Korea got bumped up and spent the day blowing balloons while watching National Geographic with my mother.
Chuckles finally drove to my place and picked me up, we stopped for brown paper to wrap Bern's present.
I struggled with Bern's 3 part present for a good 30 minutes while the boys prepared the food for the steamboat & hot plate grill. It was not easy wrapping 3 very differently shaped boxes into one neat package and I failed terribly.
Chuckles has a friend that was really professional at cooking in a steamboat and on a induction plate. I've never eaten so much at a steamboat before and I really enjoyed it.
All our food!

Still opening up her present..

Titan the white wolf (okay fine, Chuckle's husky) came to investigate what we were up to.

Finally! The full present is unveiled. Chuckles bought Bern's a three part gift of customised speakers.
