Rant #1

Today, while I was waiting for the bus to work. I saw this really pissed off lady complain to a bus conductor who was trying to ease the crowd heading to the temples.

Lady: "But it just doesnt make sense, the bus is said to be the WHITE plate but the sign on the post is Green. Its so confusing"

Now this guy is trying to make life easier for you and there are like 50 impatient people heading to the temples that he needs to split in 2 buses. Chill the fuck out! No matter what you say, he isnt going to be able to change the colour of the signs now. So write to SBS or something and stop antagonizing the poor guy.

While leads to a pet peeve of mine.

Having been forced to work in the service line for most of my part time jobs, I REALLY hate it when customers complain about things they should know I'm not going to be able to help them with.

One example, when I'm at the delivery counter job, people often come up to my counter (often during a really busy period) and exclaim: "WHAT? WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE?! ITS NOT FREE?! THIS IS SUCH A RIPOFF."

I suppose the accurate answer would be, "It is this price because the management set it so that they can make profit?" but I don't think that's what they are looking for, so often I just smile and try and ignore them. Hoping my smile conveys "I'm so sad its so expensive to you, my company is a money sucking profit making demon" even if I don't think so.

But sometime people continue pressing: "So? Why is it so expensive?"  I then normally squeak "I'm not sure sir/mam, the prices are set by management" Sometimes this makes them keep quiet, some times it does not and this develops into : "YA BUT WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE? ITS SUCH A RIPOFF, IF I BUY FROM (name of other furniture store) DELIVERY IS FREE"
(This some times, also often happens to be when the lines are neverending and when everyone else in the line behind this cheapskate is looking very impatient)

Seriously guys, I look like I'm 16 years old, what makes you think if you keep hassling me I'll be able to do anything about the price? If you aren't happy with something, bring it up with the people that can change it?

Often by the point it reaches the name dropping of another store, I'm too tired and too frustrated to smile anymore and you can see customers are thinking "What a bitch, how did she even get this job?"
And, I REALLY DON'T CARE anymore, get out of my way and let me continue my job as a customer service drone.

Urgh, people!
