Freedom Day #1 : The Day All The Stores Were Closed
Wednesday, June 1, 2011 @ 12:28 AM PERMALINK
Its day #1 of freedom. No real-world work and no school work to be bothered with.
Last night was my last academic presentation in a long long time and if all goes well *fingers crossed* I will be awarded my degree by October.
Today I roped in Berns for some costume shopping but after we made our way down to Bugis we found out that No 1 Costume has moved from Aliwal to Toa Payoh. [Store 1= closed]
So we stopped for lunch at Koh Nangkam. Koh Nangkam is this little Thai style restaurant near the Mosque, I'd give better directions but I really only find it when I'm wandering around or if my friends lead the way.
The food is pretty authentic and the portions super generous. The decor is simple and its almost like being in Thailand. We got there today just as it was opening and ordered a beef noodle soup and a beef padthai along with an iced milk tea and an ice hibiscus drink. It was a pretty good lunch and we had the whole shop for ourselves until about 1230pm.
The key to satisfying my beef noodle cravings until July.
I really love these thai soft drink bottles and they add to the decor all the time.
Partner in crime for the day. I dragged her away from her working from home hours.
Tasty tasty beef noodles, complete with nuts and slightly spicy stock
After lunch, we needed to get away from the heat and decided to go somewhere for dessert. I was going to bring Bern's to Sunray but after we got lost for about 45 mins, navigated cautiously to find a parking lot, we got there to find out that it was closed for the afternoon. :( [Store 2: Closed]
So our dessert search took us to Maju Mall for some ice-conditioning and ice-cream. Bakerzin makes mean lime sorbet. Totally refreshing!
Pretty unlucky day when you look at it. Every shop we intended to go to was shut but the bright side was we had a massive pig out AND turns out I didnt need a costume cause I can't make it for the party.
Sweet, tommorow is Day 2 of having nothing to do. Lets see what happens!
